Music Ministry Biography

LORIE LEWIS HAM began singing at 5 and has traveled across the country spreading the gospel in song ever since. Her travels with her family singing group, The Leon Lewis Family, have included regular guest spots on a national gospel music TV show, participating in her family’s international radio ministry, and recording 10 albums with the Leon Lewis Family.

Lorie released her first first solo album, consisting mostly of material she’d written, in 1994. Her second full-length album, Just Pray, was released in 1999. MP3 clips from Just Pray are posted on the Listen To Lorie page.

Lorie wrote her first song when she was 13, which was published in a songbook released by the legendary Blackwood Brothers Quartet from Memphis. Her many subsequent compositions have blessed hearts all over the world at Lorie’s solo concerts and performances with the Lewis Family.

Among Lorie’s references is the most-awarded gospel singer of all time, James Blackwood, who performed her wedding ceremony.

Lorie’s goal in singing gospel music is not fame and fortune. Instead, her heart’s desire is to spread the gospel to as many people as she can by using the talents that God has given her, entirely for His glory and purpose. Her heart is burdened for those who are hurting and feel alone and misunderstood. She conveys God’s message of incredible love to them, and shows them that He will be their best friend.

Lorie’s style is somewhat laid back and relaxing, and many who attend her concerts have remarked about feeling refreshed and renewed, with a life-changing trust in God.

Lorie entertains, but she uses the entertainment mode as an effective ministry. Songs at her concerts range from a modern inspirational style, to a little touch of ’40s nostalgia, and a sprinkling of country twang. She has something for young and old alike, and hopes to entertain, minister and bless all ages.

Lorie was born in 1966. In 1990, she married Larry Ham, a producer with the Christian radio production company Genesis. They have two children, Jessica, born in 1992, and Joseph, born in 1995. Lorie attends the Evangelical Free Church in Reedley, California.
